Speaking to a handful of interior and homeware experts from the UK and US, we've pulled together the trends and looks that we all predict to be big this year. The global pandemic made 2020 a big year for interior design and home DIY. With people being confined to their homes and staring at the same four walls, people revamped their homes to make it more comfortable and visually appealing to be in. Industry predictions are saying 2021 will continue to boom, with a focus on people making their spaces more homely and a better representation of their personality and individuality.

Curvalicious furniture

Ditch angles for curvey shapes

1. Squishy furniture and curvy shapes are hot right now. Objects with soft lines and rounded edges add warmth and coziness to a space. Achieve this affordably with less angular artwork, rounded pillows, circular rugs, and curved end tables

Maximalism style

Incorporate your style and personality

2. After a decade of minimalism, it’s becoming a thing of the past. We’re loving highly decorative, maximalism interiors. Regain a sense of individualism by fulfilling your rooms with artworks and objects that reflect your style, personality and memories

 

Statement art

Go bigger and bolder

3. Artworks will be getting bigger and bolder. Make an impact with a single extra-large statement art piece or cover a whole wall with a collection of large artworks

Cosy fabrics

Make your space warm and comfortable

4. People can’t get enough of cosy fabric textures like sherpa and sheepskin. They offer a great contrast to hard surfaces like wood flooring and help people feel warm and comfortable. Add softness to your space easily with faux-fur blankets, velvet pillows, or tufted ottomans

 

Pink accents

Add pink; it's playful and so so versatile

5. Pink was big in 2020 and is here to stay. Probably because it’s not only warm, cheerful and playful, but it’s so versatile. Easily add artworks with pink accents and pair them with black or deep green furnishings or even concrete textures... and suddenly you'll have a more vibey or masculine-looking scheme
