Jannis Zell

Jannis Zell visualizes thoughts around matter and time as well as nature and culture. The Berlin based artist and designer works within various media like paintings, drawings, sculptures and objects. He materializes the veiled histories, modes of representation, and conditioning of everyday objects through artistic and design-based approximation. Collecting human or nonhuman artifact and biofacts Jannis Zell builds up a continuous Wunderkammer which he plumbs for associative shapes, images and parallel narratives. Alluding to ideas of archaeology and lost pasts, Jannis’ pieces set out to articulate speculative fictional narratives around the mysticism attached to certain objects.
